Would like to share a little about us with you. In addition to the campground I also own and operate a Concrete Construction business and also we contract grow 2400 head of hogs wean to finish. Carmen Keeps busy with her Dance and Gymnastics business, Moser School of Dance and Gymnastics with her sister/partner Debbie Moser. Together they have owned and operated the business for over 40 years. Also, included in the business is Carmen’s mom Bernita and our daughter Kattie.
Carmen and I have enjoyed camping since the day we were married. We enjoyed a lot of tent camping on the sandbars of the Mississippi, and local county and state parks. We then graduated up to a 1969 Shasta camper that slept 6. We really enjoyed those days. No air conditioner and we were packed in like sardines – but we always had a great time. As the kids got older and into school and sports, we did not have a lot of time for camping. While we enjoyed with much pride watching our kids play sports, basketball, wrestling, football and dance and gymnastics we always longed for the day we could get back to camping.
Our daughter Kattie, is married with 4 kids and with her husband Luke Schulte. Together they farm west of Strawberry Point, Iowa. Kattie also teaches Dance and Gymnastics with the family business and also substitutes teaches at ED-CO. Our son Luke and his wife Melissa reside in Anchorage Alaska. They both work on the North Slope oil fields at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Luke also takes beautiful scenic photography (www.lucaspaynephotography.com). Our Son Tyler and his wife Shari have 3 daughters. Tyler owns and operates Payne Concrete Construction and contract grows 4800 head of hogs wean to finish. Shari is a supervisor at Lutheran Services of Iowa. Our youngest son Skyler graduated from the University of Iowa and currently lives in San Diego California where he is attending Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
As we grow older and get into our retirement years, we are looking forward to running our campground and enjoying all the great new friends we have yet to meet. One thing we really enjoy about being at the campground is that everyone comes in a great mood and is fun to be around. As we grow into this, we will be adding a playground, covered shelter for family gatherings and other activities to keep everyone entertained. Some TGIF’s and a cook out or two during the summer is also something we are considering. Our goal is to create a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all who stay with us.
